Membership

There are a variety of different membership options available at the Hawthorn Tennis Club that are tailored for students, social midweek players, competition players, and families.

Hawthorn Tennis Club is a 'Members Only' tennis club i.e. players need to join the Club and be a member to use the facilities.

Court hire - Apologies, however we do not hire out courts casually.

Visitor Policy - Visitors are able to play with members. There is a $10/hr fee applicable for each visitor, payable at the time of court booking.

Membership fees are paid annually. The membership year runs from 1 October to 30 September. A pro-rata membership fee is available for members joining part way through the year. See LEARN MORE ABOUT MEMBERSHIP FEES for information on fees.

Please note - should a member be experiencing financial hardship, we are happy to discuss payment plans or other options that might be of assistance.

Interested players are also welcome to attend the Club for our regular Sunday Social tennis, any Sunday afternoon from 2 pm. A committee member will be available to answer any questions you may have. Feel free to bring your tennis gear and have a set or two - this way you can 'try before you buy'!

Capacity limits

Our tennis club is thriving, however with this comes some capacity constraints that we would like you to know about in advance of becoming a member!

Night competition - the Club is currently at capacity for Night Competition, with 14 teams currently participating across the 4 week nights (Monday-Thursday). We have a waiting list for members looking to join a night competition team. Please contact the Club if this is a playing format which you are specifically looking for before acquiring a membership in order to avoid disappointment.

Mid-week evening social court bookings - we have a limit on the duration of social tennis court bookings of 2 hours. At peak times (e.g. summer/ autumn time, particularly just after the Australian Open when everyone is keen to get on the court!), this limit may be reduced to 1.5 hrs to manage demand.

Once we have received your application and membership fee payment, we will issue you with a swipe card. Once you have your swipe card you will be able to access the courts and Clubhouse.
